Il 16 Agosto partirà la nuova Premier League, con il Manchester United che partirà nella difesa al titolo dal match casalingo contro il Newcastle di Kevin Keegan, mentre altre due big come Chelsea e Liverpool saranno impegnati in match non semplicissimi rispettivamente contro il Portsmouth e contro il Sunderland (allo Stadium Of Light). Partenza sulla carta più soft invece per l’Arsenal, che ospiterà all’Emirates Stadium i campioni della Championship del West Bromwich.

L’Hull City farà il suo esordio assoluto in massima serie ospitando il Fulham, mentre l’altra neopromossa è lo Stoke City e farà visita al Bolton, in un duello che potrebbe ripetersi nella lotta per la salvezza. Tra i match sicuramente più interessanti della giornata d’esordio c’è Aston Villa-Manchester City, ovvero due squadre ambiziose che proveranno a dar fastidio alle grandi.

A proposito delle grandi, il primo big match arriva alla quarta giornata e sarà l’ennesimo atto della grande rivalità tra Liverpool e Manchester United, mentre i Red Devils e l’Arsenal avranno da affrontare un finale di campionato davvero di fuoco: in programma alla terzultima giornata c’è infatti Arsenal-Chelsea e il derby di Manchester ad Old Trafford, che poi la giornata successiva ospiterà addirittura Manchester United-Arsenal, una partita che potrebbe valere tutto qualora Red Devils e Gunners si ritrovassero anche in lotta per il titolo.
